Nicholas Vujicic to Talk About "Life Without Limbs" at Northland Church, March 5-7

Star of The Butterfly Circus short film to encourage places of worship in welcoming those with disabilities. All appearances will be webcast live.

A young man who was born without arms or legs, but has already accomplished more than most people do in a lifetime, is coming to Northland Church in Longwood, March 5-7, to share his inspiring story and to encourage places of worship in welcoming those with disabilities.

Nicholas Vujicic, 29, has traveled around the world, sharing his story with millions of people. Originally from Brisbane, Australia, he recently moved to California, where he is the president of an international non-profit organization called Life Without Limbs (http://www.lifewithoutlimbs.org).

Vujicic recently starred in the award-winning movie short, "The Butterfly Circus", which has been selected for feature film development.

Northland is expecting as many as 15,000 people to join in this special event, including 4,000 watching online. Representatives from other churches throughout the state of Florida will also participate, seeking "next steps" for including those with disabilities.

"Creating a more welcoming environment for individuals and families with disabilities is something most churches could improve upon with some intentional planning and a decision to just do it," notes Laura Lee Wright, director of Northland’s Access Ministries.

Since making the decision to be more intentional in this regard, Northland has been privileged to have special needs children joining in its children’s church with "buddies" lending a hand. A new, integrated youth and young adult ministry called Young Life Capernaum has also been developed. Additionally, there are monthly family activities for families with children with disabilities and services of various sorts for parents, from respite care to support groups.

Northland is honored to welcome Nicholas Vujicic during all regularly scheduled services at 530 Dog Track Road, in Longwood (all times EST):

  • Saturday, March 5 at 5 p.m.
  • Sunday, March 6 at 9, 11 a.m. and 6 p.m.
  • Monday, March 7 at 7 p.m.

All services will be webcast live at http://www.northlandchurch.net.
