The Success of the Paralympic Winter Games on the Web Too

Torino 2006 dedicated a robust website to the Paralympic Winter Games and it is fully accessible. A popular choice with the audience, who has confirmed the online success of this event. Throughout the 10 days of the Games (from March 10 to 19) over 300,000 single users visited over 3 million pages.

There was great curiosity for the Video Zone, the section that enabled a complete immersion in the Paralympic atmosphere. In the area “Our Champions” it was possible to listen to the athletes’ voice, their impressions on the competitions and the event, with the interviews made by the staff of COMPARTO (the Organising Committee for the Paralympic Winter Games). The possibility of watching the Paralympic competitions live through the link to the website Paralympicsport.TV, produced by IPC (the International Paralympic Committee), always live from the competition venues, was particularly appreciated. “Il Rovescio della medaglia”, a daily radiophonic appointment dedicated to the Paralympics and produced in collaboration with the Regione Piemonte and Radio Dimensione Suono and presented by the journalist Luca Pagliari, also had a huge following. Thanks to this, it was possible to listen to athletes’ stories, the opinions of journalists and VIP’s and the Olympic emotions live from Torino.

The Paralympic site will remain online until August 31 at the address www.paralympicgames.torino2006.org. Then the database and all the information will be transferred to the International Paralympic Committee.
