39 Pounds of Love

Ami Ankilewitz lives in Israel with his mother, works as a 3D animator (thanks to a assistive technology) and is a devoted lover of blues music and Harley Davidson motorcycles. At the age of one, Ami was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy by his doctor in the United States. He was not predicted to live past the age of six. Today, over 30 years later, weighing in at 39 pounds and immobile from the neck down, he wants to find that doctor.

Made over a period of three years, the film documents the realization of Ami's dreams - from his room in Tel Aviv, Israel, he defies his current doctor's orders and sets out on a coast-to-coast road trip across the United States. This decision becomes the catalyst for an extraordinary series of events. Ami is a charismatic individual with an abundance of humor, adventure and passion, and his journey is unforgettable.
